I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Six beetles gather on the page, three in deep black and three in soft white, each shell covered in intricate patterning inspired by the calligraphic beetle. Some turn inward toward each other and some face out toward the world, just like a group of friends who support each other while each going their own way. On the black beetles, gold metallic ink catches the light and gives their shells a quiet shimmer.

This piece is a small tribute to five of my closest market mates. One beetle is me, and the other five are the friends who encourage me, cheer me on, and push me to keep getting better at my craft. It was first created for my bug-inspired exhibition at Wattle and Bee, a plant shop where I showed a whole collection of original insect paintings.

It's a one-of-a-kind original for anyone who loves beetles, fine detail, or the people who help them get by.
