Christmas Gifts From an Australian Artist

If there's one thing my family does well, it's leaving Christmas preparations to the last minute.

Every Christmas Eve we head to my parents' place. Dad fires up the barbecue, Mum makes her seriously delicious potato bake, and my sister bakes shortbread for the extended family, usually until the crazy hours. She and Mum always end up battling it out for the oven.

So if your gift list, cards or wrapping aren't quite done, you're in good company. Here are my favourites from my range this Christmas, all featuring my watercolour artwork inspired by flowers and the little critters I spot in the garden.

Christmas card packs for the indecisive

I introduced card packs to my range, and they're one of the things I'm most excited about this Christmas. They come in the most gorgeous little boxes, with six cards across two designs, so you can change it up depending on who you're writing to.

If you've ever stood in front of a card rack with a bad case of decision fatigue, this is your answer. Grab a pack and you're sorted.

They're especially handy if, like my mum, you have a list of people you write to every year. Having a good stash on hand is key in our family. If you're posting cards to loved ones further away, check the Christmas sending dates before you sit down to write them.

Notepads for the list-maker

I'll admit it, I'm pretty forgetful. Lists are how I get through the Christmas period: presents, groceries and who's bringing what to lunch. And having something bright and colourful to write on makes all that organising feel a little less stressful and a lot more cheery.

My notepads come with or without a magnetic back, so you can keep one on your desk or pop it straight on the fridge. They also make a practical present with a bit of personality for the list-maker in your life.

So many Christmas designs are all about a snowy, wintry Christmas. But we're in Australia, and it's bloody hot here! I get it, Santa comes from the North Pole, but I wanted something that felt a little more like home.

For my Christmas bauble wrapping paper, I painted Aussie flannel flowers wrapped around the baubles. It's my little play on an Aussie Christmas.

If you'd rather stick with red and green, there's also my dark green flowering gum wrapping paper covered in red flowering gum. It's one of those designs you can use anytime of year, so any leftover sheets are perfect for a birthday later on.

Wrapping presents is my job in our family, and yes, it usually happens the night before. Cheesy Christmas carols go on, and my husband makes cocktails to cool the vibe down. Chaotic? A little. But it's our tradition.

For a sweet little gift, try my beetle art prints. The designs bring beetles together with botanicals, flowers, stars, fruits and moons, so you can choose one that suits the person you're buying for.

Pair a print with a little frame for a ready-to-display gift, or let them choose a frame that suits their space.

At Christmas I often get practical gifts like lunch boxes, food containers and drink bottles. Stickers are my favourite way to personalise gifts like these and make them your own.

I like them on drink bottles, but they're also a way to add a little personality to suitcases, laptops, iPads and Kindles if you're travelling over the holidays. They're an easy size to tuck into a stocking, too.

Before you order for Christmas

If you're buying a gift or finishing touches for Christmas, check my current shipping information before ordering, especially if you need your parcel to arrive by Christmas.

Whether you're a list-maker like Mum or a night-before wrapper like me, I hope you find something here that makes Christmas a little brighter.

Merry Christmas, and good luck to anyone else fighting for the oven this year!
